The Community Services Sub-cabinet represent files created by Kari Moe, Administrative Assistant to the Mayor and her three assistants, Luz Martinez, Toya Dorham and Charlotte Chun. She and her assistants worked with the following agencies: the Dept. of Human Services, the Commission on Human Resources, the Municipal Reference Library, the Chicago Public Library, Women's Affairs Commission, the Mayor's Office of Inquiry and Information, the Dept. of Health, Health Systems Agency and the Dept. of Aging and Disability. The files include reports, minutes, memos, budget and other financial records, personnel issues, monthly status reports, and correspondence.

Harold Lee Washington (April 15, 1922 – November 25, 1987) was an American lawyer and politician who was the 51st Mayor of Chicago. Washington became the first African American to be elected as the city's mayor in April 1983 after a multiracial coalition of progressives supported his election. He served as mayor from April 29, 1983 until his death on November 25, 1987.
